Weddings Follow Fashion Trends

Earlier this month, Pantone revealed their Fashion Color Report for Spring 2012 which features the top color choice projections for next spring's fashion trends. I must say I was immediately smitten with the idea of "Tangerine Tango" and "Sweet Lilac" paired with a neutral beige/taupe base. So smitten in fact that I began immediately working on an inspiration board featuring this tones. Somewhere in the process, the color tones changed & I was led to softer tones... more of an orange sherbet and blush pink than true, wild tangerine and light purple lilac. Sometimes what you set out to find or create is just not where you end up, but that's where all the fun lies... in the process! Enjoy :)
Not every "Signature Cocktail" has to be an alcoholic beverage. Honestly, an orange sherbet smoothie sounds better to me than any mixed drink I can think of. If you're planning an event without liquor, use your imagine to create unique "mocktails" to compliment your event's style. Better yet... call Perfectly Posh to do it for you!

Re-thinking a Classic... Baby's Breath is Back!

Although the 80's have long-ago passed us by, there were certainly many trends from the era that shouldn't be tossed aside necessarily. If you're old enough, you probably remember fluffy, frilly, traditional wedding decor using Baby's Breath, carnations and sparse spray roses from all those 1980-1990 weddings. I sure do! Although floral design and wedding styles have certainly moved forward since "way back" then, I think we should all be re-thinking the staple Baby's Breath filler- but as the main show instead! A few years ago, we caught our first glimpse of a fabulous centerpiece or two featuring full-fluff Baby's Breath and nothing else. It was stunning!! However, other than a random Southern Bride article or Martha Stewart feature, real Arkansas brides don't seem to have jumped on board this extremely fashionable, uniquely styled, budget friendly floral design!? This puzzles me. Maybe it's just a little too different for real brides to take the chance on for their (hopefully) one-and-only big wedding day. If that's the case... how unfortunate! A large part of my job when styling a wedding is to urge a cautious bride just barely outside of her comfort zone (which is usually a little too reined-in) and open her eyes to new ways to express her unique style in a newer, more unique way. Obviously, I also really have to stretch budgets in every way possible and those budgets seem to be getting tight and tighter with our current "economic climate" (I hate that phrase). At any rate, today I'm re-thinking a classic and boldly claiming Baby's Breath is Back! Take a look at these pictures and imagine the many, many different ways a full bunch of Baby's Breath with candle light, up-lighting, pin-spots or simple natural light from a real Arkansas outdoor wedding could captivate your guests and leave you with show-stopping wedding pictures (black/white is especially beautiful). Enjoy the pictures below compiled from our idea library. I really doubt any of these will remind any of you of the 1980-1990 wedding era!

Happy Monday Everyone!

FALL FALL FALL

Centerpieces are important in a wedding and usually what some brides stress a lot about because this is where everyone gathers around and will be seeing. If you are having a fall wedding here are several ways to mix the beautiful burnt orange, yellow, red, and browns together to match the season.

Ohh-la-la-LACE Wedding Gowns

I understand lace is not every bride's ideal fabric, but I just can not imagine not hopping on this wedding trend with full force! I have always appreciated lace, but I may have recently escalated my appreciation to absolute adoration. Kate Middleton obviously raised the bar for lace-accented gowns with her very elegant wedding dress, but I have to say... for me... some of you may not agree... some of you may strongly disagree... this dress is just as or more beautiful!! For one, I love the flowing, full skirt which just makes a bride really look like a fairy tale bride. Add a mermaid style and soft lace overlay and I'm in love. For you brides on a budget (you know I'm always thinking about you), you will be ecstatic to learn this dress is only $225.00 from geebird.com!!! Hope you're in absolute adoration now too...

Deep Jewel Tones & Bold Color Combos

So, I've never been afraid of color but some brides might be a little unsure of the bold color combos trending for fall and 2012 events now. With a little guidance and restraint, an event with bold jewel tones paired with warm neutrals could be the show-stopping effect you're dreaming of! As you're planning, remember that not every element of your event should be saturated with strong color tones. Same as interior design- the eye needs a place to rest in order to take in all the lovelies. So, be sure to bring in neutrals with the same warm undertones as the bold jewel tones you select. My favorite right now: eggplant, aqua blue, mahogany and gold. Throw in a little light cream, ivory and/or taupe when any neutral is in order (not really for the bride who's grandmother demands she wears white, not ivory!). Consider searching flea markets or borrowing mismatched vintage style china in a variety of patterns, but all within the same color range. In my opinion, this inspiration picture from Sarah Maren Photography is gorgeous, but remember- when you find an inspiration picture there's no need to "copy" it. Choose the elements you love the most & work from those. Incorporate your own style while omitting your not-so-faves from the photo(s). Make it your own, and call us to make it Perfectly Posh!

Introducing John & Jill - Another Perfectly Posh Couple

Jill entered our Fall Big Giveaway on Facebook and WON!! She used to say "I never win anything" but that's not true anymore. John and Jill are planning an outdoors wedding at the Fordyce Ricks Estate on October 8, 2011. As part of her package, Jill won free day-of-event coordination, free event design & $500 towards her floral design & creation by Perfectly Posh. She had already planned so many beautiful things for their day so we have really enjoyed working together to make their big day even better... actually, Perfectly Posh! Check back soon for more pictures of their elegantly Fall themed outdoor wedding.

DIY Wedding Day Hairstyles

What a great way to save money for your engagement pictures, bridal portraits or event wedding day- DIY hairstyles! This great article from Martha Stewart Weddings. Now, this is obviously not for everyone (only a true professional can tame my wild tresses), but for brides on a budget with "good" hair or even for brides with a hair-handy friend... I think this is perfect! Luckily, loose and flowing styles are very popular for Fall and certainly go well with the vintage themes so many brides are choosing now. Enjoy the article and happy hair styling!

Introducing Philip & Angela- Another Perfectly Posh Couple

Angela entered our Fall Big Giveaway on Facebook, but was unfortunately not our big winner this season. However, recognizing the style they hope to express with their outdoor wedding, she contacted Posh for wedding styling and day-of-event coordination. We are so excited to work with Angel and Philip to create the most Perfectly Posh day for them on October 2, 2011 at An Enchanted Evening. Angela has so many great ideas and has already supplied fabulous props for their naturally vintage, ivory and green themed wedding and reception. Check back soon for more pictures from their big day!
