Re-thinking a Classic... Baby's Breath is Back!

Although the 80's have long-ago passed us by, there were certainly many trends from the era that shouldn't be tossed aside necessarily. If you're old enough, you probably remember fluffy, frilly, traditional wedding decor using Baby's Breath, carnations and sparse spray roses from all those 1980-1990 weddings. I sure do! Although floral design and wedding styles have certainly moved forward since "way back" then, I think we should all be re-thinking the staple Baby's Breath filler- but as the main show instead! A few years ago, we caught our first glimpse of a fabulous centerpiece or two featuring full-fluff Baby's Breath and nothing else. It was stunning!! However, other than a random Southern Bride article or Martha Stewart feature, real Arkansas brides don't seem to have jumped on board this extremely fashionable, uniquely styled, budget friendly floral design!? This puzzles me. Maybe it's just a little too different for real brides to take the chance on for their (hopefully) one-and-only big wedding day. If that's the case... how unfortunate! A large part of my job when styling a wedding is to urge a cautious bride just barely outside of her comfort zone (which is usually a little too reined-in) and open her eyes to new ways to express her unique style in a newer, more unique way. Obviously, I also really have to stretch budgets in every way possible and those budgets seem to be getting tight and tighter with our current "economic climate" (I hate that phrase). At any rate, today I'm re-thinking a classic and boldly claiming Baby's Breath is Back! Take a look at these pictures and imagine the many, many different ways a full bunch of Baby's Breath with candle light, up-lighting, pin-spots or simple natural light from a real Arkansas outdoor wedding could captivate your guests and leave you with show-stopping wedding pictures (black/white is especially beautiful). Enjoy the pictures below compiled from our idea library. I really doubt any of these will remind any of you of the 1980-1990 wedding era!

Happy Monday Everyone!
